Ideal for beginners and nature lovers, this trek offers moderate walking trails through forests, riverside paths, and high-altitude meadows. The best time to witness the valley in full bloom is between July and August, when hundreds of flower species paint the landscape in vibrant colors.
Main Information
This is a 5 Nights and 6 Days premium trekking program with four days of guided trekking. The maximum altitude reached during the trek is approximately 4,632 meters at Hemkund Sahib, while the Valley of Flowers lies at around 3,659 meters. The trek is graded as easy to moderate and is suitable for travelers with basic fitness.
The season for this trek runs from June to September, with temperatures typically ranging from around 20 degrees Celsius during the day to sub-zero at higher altitudes.
Day 01 — Arrival in Joshimath
Arrive in Joshimath in your own vehicle and check in to the hotel. The evening is free for relaxation and acclimatization to the mountain environment. Joshimath, located on the banks of the Alaknanda River, is an important base town for many Himalayan expeditions. Dinner and overnight stay will be in Joshimath.
Day 02 — Joshimath to Govindghat to Ghangharia
After an early breakfast, meet your trekking guide and drive approximately 22 km to Govindghat, the starting point of the trek. From here, begin the scenic 14 km trek to Ghangharia, walking alongside the beautiful Laxman Ganga river.
The trail offers magnificent mountain views and forest surroundings. A hot lunch is arranged en route. By late afternoon, arrive at Ghangharia and check in to the hotel or luxury camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 03 — Valley of Flowers Trek
Post breakfast, begin the fully escorted trek to the Valley of Flowers. The trail initially passes through dense forest alongside the Pushpavati river before opening into the famous alpine meadows.
Spend the day exploring the valley, which is home to rare Himalayan flowers such as Blue Poppy, Potentilla, Geranium, and many more species. Packed lunch and hot beverages are arranged during the excursion. Return to Ghangharia by evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 04 — Hemkund Sahib Trek
After breakfast, start the uphill trek to Hemkund Sahib, one of the highest sacred lakes in the Himalayas. This internationally revered pilgrimage site is sacred to both Sikhs and Hindus.
At the top, witness the crystal-clear glacial lake surrounded by snow-clad peaks and visit the Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara and nearby Lakshman Temple. After spending time at this serene high-altitude site, trek back to Ghangharia for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 05 — Ghangharia to Govindghat to Joshimath
After breakfast, begin the return trek from Ghangharia to Govindghat, followed by a drive back to Joshimath. A hot lunch is arranged on the route.
If time permits, you may explore the local Joshimath market and visit important sites such as the Shankaracharya Math, Kalpavriksha, and Narsimha Temple. Dinner and overnight stay in Joshimath.
Day 06 — Departure from Joshimath
After early breakfast, check out and begin your onward journey in your own vehicle, carrying unforgettable memories of the Valley of Flowers trek.
Package Includes
The package covers shared land transfers between Joshimath and Govindghat, five nights premium accommodation, and all meals from dinner on Day 1 to breakfast on Day 6 including breakfast, lunch, evening snacks, and dinner.
It also includes entry fees for the Valley of Flowers for Indian nationals, services of a fluent English-speaking licensed trekking guide (one guide for up to eight guests), mule support for one piece of soft luggage up to 10 kg per person, and Joshimath sightseeing on Day 5 if time permits.
Package Excludes
The package does not include travel insurance, medical or evacuation expenses, or any transport outside the specified itinerary. Helicopter rides between Govindghat and Ghangharia, personal mule or porter hire, and charges for hot water at Ghangharia are not included.
Entry fees for foreign nationals, camera or video charges inside the Valley of Flowers, personal expenses, beverages, tips, donations, and any services not specifically mentioned in the inclusions are also excluded.
